How Many Days?

How many days do you spend
wondering about your last breath?
How many nights do you spend gazing
at the stars? How many days do you spend
walking down the street, dreaming of a better
life, a better tomorrow? How many nights do you
spend in your room, dreaming up vast and
imaginative worlds filled with weird yet fascinating
creatures? Creatures you wish existed in this banal
existence you call reality.

How many days do you spend in your own world,
mechanically going through the motions wishing
it to be over before it starts? How many nights do you
spend watching people you wish you could be doing
things you wish you could do but feel you can’t? How many
days do you spend grinding away for so little in return, exerting
massive amounts of energy just to go home and crash on your
futon (lord knows you can’t afford a bed) at night?

How many nights do you wish you lived better?
How many nights do you wish to be amongst the stars?
How many nights do you wish to be whisked away to a
distant fantasy land, where every corner brings a new
 adventure?
How many days do you wish something exciting would happen?
How many days do you wish things would change?
How many days do you wish you would just go out and do it?
How many days do you wish you didn’t condemn yourself for
remaining the same?
