You Don’t Care (A Serial Poem)

I
You don’t care, you just want that bag.
You don’t care, you just want those shoes.
“Money is no object” holds some truth.
As people live their daily lives
Working for something they don’t care about.
If everything were free, would money really be an issue?
Crime?
War?
Would thousands if not millions be spared?
If a simple concept like money didn’t exist.
Trade and barter was never an issue;
I have something you want
You have something I need,
We exchange and move on with our lives.
Nobody had to get hurt,
No one owed anything There was no interest
On necessity.
You don’t care, you just want food to calm your cravings.
You don’t care, you just wanna have drinks and hang out with friends.
You don’t care, you just wanna go shopping
You don’t care, because you never lost touch with your true nature
If life is just a dream, why are we paying for it?
You don’t care, you just wanna live life without stopping.
II
The truth is, I never cared.
When you first told me about your day and how “horrible” it was,
I would fall asleep mid story.
I never cared, I just wanted sex
I never cared, so long as I got my way.
I never cared, your tears don’t faze me
It’s a shame how fragile you are
You’re all the same.
You accept lies at every turn, crumble at the sight of truth.
Why can’t you see these things ahead of time?
You can’t be that dumb and blind
Follow your intuition.
You think being cold hearted is the perfect defense
You should know better than to be
Something you don’t understand
Being cold hearted is a perilous tale,
To sacrifice all happy endings
To compensate for one moment of pain
Is that what you deserve?

I never cared, I just wanted some ass.
I never cared, if you were a slut or a lady with class
I never cared, you’re all the same
Hidden beneath that attractive exterior
A past of guilt and shame,
You don’t have to say I’m right
I always am.
I never care because I heard your story so many times.
I never care because everything plays out like a movie.
I never care because I become a fortune-teller when you’re around.
I DON’T CARE, because you make the same sounds.
III
Why do you care? You’re too weak to do so.
Why do you care? Your wounds haven’t healed
Why do you care? You’re not strong enough
How do you care? Reckless abandonment?
How do you care? Being there no matter what?
How do you care? With no regards for your own well-being?
How do you care? Sounds so simple when you don’t know.

It’s funny you should care; I never asked you.
It’s funny you should care; I don’t need you.
It’s funny you should care; I don’t want you.

You’re still here? You really are pitiful.
You’re still here? You’re determined
You’re still here? Trying to stop this cycle?
Give it everything you have!
You’re still here? Look, just go home and come back tomorrow
You look like life’s been kicking your ass since before birth…
fuck off!
IV
I can’t say it
I know I don’t mean it.
Those four little letters make a big difference
They’re almost as important as the other letter words
I can’t say it
I know I don’t mean it

I don’t know how people lie
Such a mystery
Truth would reign If everything were free.
Money and debt corrupt countless people
Living a life worshipping something
You can make with your printer.

I can’t say it
I know I don’t mean it
I’m not embarrassed.
All of my relationships are fragile
They have to be handled with it.
I can’t act recklessly
They would all break.
I can’t say it
I know I don’t mean it
It’s who I am.
I’m not one to be handled with this word
I’m tougher than that.
I can’t be handled with this word
It gets me nowhere.
I won’t be handled with this word,
Weakness doesn’t cloud this mind
I will not be handled with this word,
Iron
Steel
Truth
Aren’t handled with the like.
That word will never handle me
I wasn’t made to be weak.
That word will never handle me
I know what it does in these streets.
V
There are those who care
Those who don’t
That’s life.
Those who care
Those who won’t
That’s their problem.
Instagram quotes are the latest horoscope
People let those quotes shape their lives
Living every day with a false positive attitude
Not how change works assholes!

Those who really care, just keep on, lies will always exist.
Those who really care, learn to distinguish between real and fake.
Those who really care, other people’s actions shouldn’t affect you.
Those who really care, live life as you see fit, it belongs to you.

Those who don’t care, don’t fall into that trap, karma will catch you.
Those who don’t care, be straightforward and blunt, feelings don’t matter.
Those who don’t care, develop a still mind and unbreakable will.
Those who don’t care, teach those who do these things
That make us human.
